THE TREE

You are rooted

While I run free

You fold me in your limbs

To show how love can be

When the wind blows

I watch you shimmer

When the rain comes

I see you glimmer

Your majestic foliage

Protects me from the bright

Just like I hoped

You stay here all night

Your age is hidden

Inside by your rings

And just like love

You bloom again each spring

Oh how I long

To bask in your shade

This love we've planted

Will never fade
