So much has changed in this life

There's so much more hatred and anger

Nowhere near enough love

And too little laughter and joy

Far too many young adults in distress

Girls turning to blades in false belief

That a little cut or three's alright

That they'll fix the hurting that's deep inside

A false sense of security is all it is in the end though

False feelings of pleasure and happiness

A visible outlet for her frustration

Fast becoming something socially acceptable

Something that's too often seen as the 'in' thing

Getting hard to figure out who's who now

Who is doing it just because she has heard that it's what's 'cool'

And who's doing it as a legitimate cry for help

Authorities blaming the wrong things

It's easier to say that it's because of 'this band' or 'that clique'

Cause its the easy way out

Why bother trying to figure out if there's a real reason?

Possible problems at home or school

Instead they take the easy way out

So easy to blame lyrics that heal

Lyrics that are double- edged

Interpreted by parents as evil

And inspirational to the younger generation

More helpful than most forms of therapy

Less painful than baring their souls

Rather the bands do it then them

And in return these bands are being attacked

Irate parents demanding these bands be banned

Where is the justice in that?

Why blame these young men and censor their truths?

If the idea is there nothing and no one can change that

Contrary to popular belief that bands put suicidal thoughts and beliefs into our heads

Sometimes it's healing to know these brave young men a re unashamed

Baring their hearts and souls to the world

But if it can make us realize there is hope for us if we can just stick it out

Isn't that worth anything in this day and age?
