Innocence was lost

After the frost

Lost among the litter

Dropped by the bitter

Citizens who long

To forget the wrong

Who long to forgive

And just live

Like the kid

Who used to do what he bid

No longer will they claim

The innocence that will maim

And haunt with the thought

That innocence can be bought

And redeemed by the bitter

For the fitter

And less bitter

Thoughts and scars of a childhood

Spent in a friendly neighborhood
